"He'd look good running around on turf and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has previously spoken of giving more "multiple" fronts. The Rams could probably make a 3-4 outside linebacker like Banta-Cain work. The Steelers, Dolphins, and Niners are also said to have interest"

Banta-Cain was been used primarily in a backup role prior to the injury to Junior Seau but made the most of the increased playing time and showed he can be a productive starter. He is a good athlete with an explosive first step coming off the edge who shows good speed and range when chasing form the backside. He can bend well and has quickness to get laterally down the line of scrimmage. He has pass rush tools but needs to expand his package developing his counter moves. Banta-Cain can generate power initially by being explosive and getting under blockers' pads. He flashes effective hand use but does get tied up some and needs to be quicker to disengage verses the run. He has the tools to be an effective coverage player but he appears to be a "by the numbers" reactor versus the passing game. He needs to be more instinctive and read route progressions better to have the whole package. Banta-Cain is a good football player and could start for a handful of teams but needs to continue to improve and expand his game to be a complete player.
